All About Hayden Heights

Hayden Heights is a pre-K(four year old) through sixth grade neighborhood school on Saint Paul's East Side. The school's diverse student population experiences the basic subjects in their grade-level classrooms in addition to other subjects such as science, music and computers. The media center has become the center of learning at the school. In addition to 25 minutes per week of scheduled

library time, there is flexible scheduling for students to visit the media center for class research projects, computer work and individual book check-out.

Students are exposed to learning through multiple instructional methods including Reader's and Writer's Workshop. They are also offered many educational opportunities outside of the classroom to support individual learning styles.

Heights also places a strong emphasis on family and community involvement. Staff, families, and community members continually work on building strong partnerships to support student achievement and success.

  • Hayden Heights offers all-day kindergarten and a half-day four year old program .

  • Breakthrough to Literacy, Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math (computer reading and math programs) in addition to Destination Imagination teams (competitions where students build critical-thinking skills) help students at all levels improve their skills.


  • The Title I program provides specialized reading help for students.

  • The Area Learning Center (ALC) offers after-school programs.

  • Hayden Heights has business partnerships with 3M and St. Paul Travelers, which both provide tutors.

  • Students wear school uniforms.
